RECOVERING WELL
Lieutenant N. A. Derbie
Advice that his son, Lieutenant Norman A. Derbie, of the Indian Army, has arrived at Agra, near Delhi, has been received by Mr A. Derbie. It was the first letter he had received from his son since December 1941; since then only three cards have come from the prison camp near Singapore where Lieutenant Derbie was a prisoner for three and a-half years. _ Lieutenant Derbie said he was recovering well and hoped soon to be on his way home. It was disclosed for the first time that he had been wounded in the leg when Singapore fell and had spent 10 months in hospital. The treatment he received was not very satisfactory. He was reported to be in good health when last seen in Singapore by a ser-geant-major of the Imperial forces who was a prisoner in the same camp and is now visiting New Zealand.
