SPRING FLOWER SHOW

Good Display Al Tokanui

The Toi Tois branch of the W.D.F.U. held their spring flower show in the Tokanui hall. Entries in the narcissi section were outstanding and the judge, Mr Hunter Dunlop, of Pine Bush, said that the blooms compared very favourably with those displayed at shows in larger centres. The industrial section was judged by Mrs G. Weir, and the children's baking section by Mrs A. Ericson, sen., and Mrs J. McGarvie. Prizes were awarded as follows:— Section I.—Most points in flowers Mrs Marshall 82, 1, Miss E. Sparke 64, 2. Most points narcissi, Mrs Marshall. 40. Premier bloom, Mrs Marshall. Runner-up for premier bloom Miss Casey. Section 2. —Most points industrial. Mrs Boniface 62, 1, Mrs R. J. Hamilton and’ Mrs Marshall 22 (equal) 2. Most points knitting, Mrs Boniface, 36. Section 3 (girls 15-18 years).—Most points in section, Miss Adele Boniface 28, 1, Miss Betty Ericson 2. Special prize (tray cloth), Miss Adele Boniface. Section 4. (Children). —Most points in section, Beth Heatherington 51, 1, Raynor Ericson 31, 2. Marjorie McEwan 16, 3.' Most points in flowers, Beth Heatherington and Raynor Ericson 13 (equal) 1. Most points in baking, Beth Heatherington, 14. Vase spring flowers (best arranged) Beth Heatherington. Premier bloom, Raynor Ericson. Waste material article, Beth Heatherington (girls), Edward Shirley (boys). Most points in sections 15, 16, 17, Rex Tarbotton and Lilburn McNatty 4 (equal) 1.
