THE OLDER PEOPLE

Sir, —Nowadays we hear much talk about memorials, etc., but somehow no one has so far given a thought to the older people who made most of us what we now are—and a very fine job they made of it, in most cases. May I suggest a communal room for age benefit members and their friends, situated somewhere handy to Dee street, where they can meet and have a chat, cup of tea, and once or twice weekly a game of cards, or social—perhaps an old time dance? Have you ever noticed these people walking up our streets? They seem to have nowhere to go, with the exception of the library. Surely they deserve a special place. We ourselves will be older some day, and it won’t be so very long. Perhaps some noble body will take this matter up, and ask for subscriptions. I for one will readily contribute. HOPING FOR THE BEST.
