CANCER CAMPAIGN

Progress In New Zealand

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 28. « Sir James Elliott, presiding at the annual meeting of the Cancer Campaign Society, said no country paid more attention to cancer investigation than New Zealand, and the latest forms of treatment were available here. It was encouraging that the public were contributing liberally to the funds. The clinics in the four centres were seeing and supervising hundreds of cases a year, and a vast amount of work was done by medical staffs. The percentage of five-year cures was still increasing. An outstanding feature was that in prostate gland cases, with the new treatment a high proportion of the patients were apparently well. Sir James Elliott was re-elected president and Sir Hugh Acland and Sir Louis Barnett were re-elected vice-presidents.
