UNRRA Requests Increase Supplies For China

(Rec. 7.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 27. UNRRA has asked New Zealand and Australia to increase their allocations of relief supplies for China, particularly food, medical supplies, clothing, wool, steel rails, construction machinery and emergency housing supplies, says the Washington correspondent of The New York Times. This will be followed by shipments of seeds and agricultural hand tools to permit China to feed herself as rapidly as possible. UNRRA is also expected to obtain draught and dairy animals from New Zealand and Australia to help her build up the herds ravaged by war. New Zealand so far has contributed 8,476,000 dollars to UNRRA and Australia 38,400,000.
