PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH In accordance with the custom of visiting parishes every three years, a commission of the Mataura Presbytery, consisting of the Revs. J. Badcock, convener, and F. B. Barton and Messrs Lindsay and W. Dickie, elders, met the office-bearers of the Edendale Church. Nearly all the office-bearers were present. After meeting the minister, session and Deacon’s Court, an adjournment was made to the church for the annual congregational meeting. All parts of the parish were well represented. The Minister, the Rev. W. French, was chairman. Reports were received and adopted from the various branches of church activity as follows; The session, Mr Andrew Ha JI; treasurer’s statement, Mr W. Hall; P.W.M.U. G.A., Miss N. Hall and Mrs French; Sunday schools, Mr H. J. Dunn and the Rev. W. French (the last named on behalf of Mrs Morton, of Seaward Downs, and Miss Hardie, of Brydone, who w.ere unable to attend); Bible classes, Miss M. White and the Rev. W. French; choir, Mr W. Chaplin; the Combined Fellowship group, Mr H. J. Dunn. Mr Badcock congratulated the congregation on the excellent reports, and the general progress of the work, and briefly spoke on the youth work of the church, while Mr Barton, who also offered his congratulations and good wishes, spoke on missionary activities. During the evening items were given as follows: Anthems, the choir, with Mr K. Monagan as soloist; solos, Mrs Bayley and Mrs Philips, Miss B. Johnston and Miss E. McLeod. The Rev. N. Hooper (Methodist), congratulated the congregation on its progress and conveyed the good wishes of himself and his people. He also referred to the happy association of himself with Mr French. Mr J. Johnston moved a comprehensive vote of thanks. This was carried by acclamation.
