PATRIOTIC COMMUNITY SING
Queens Presented At Civic Theatre The third concert and community sing to be held in the Civic Theatre as a part of the patriotic Queen Carnival effort attracted a large audience last night; The concert was in aid of the sub-committees of the United Retailers’, the Allied Trades’ and Professions’ and the Wholesalers’ and Manufacturers’ candidates. The three Queen candidates, with their attendant princesses, were presented by the Mayoress, Mrs A. Wachner, during the concert. During the evening a number of articles were auctioned by Mr C. Trim and good prices were received. A feature of the evening was a boxing demonstration by Dick Baker. The community singing was led by Messrs R. Kummert and C. Payne, and the accompanist was Mrs Mclvor. Items were presented by the following: Miss Rene Ward’s pupils, winter dance by Denise Lister and Lorraine Bertie and fairy ballet by six junior pupils; Master Crisp, recitation; Miss Race, violin solo; Mr J. Galloway, songs; Valmai Hamilton and Joyce Spence, dance; Mr Hawkey, Miss Coral Hawkey and Master BiUy Hawkey, piano trio; Misses M. McDonald and J. Burke, duet.
