GRACIE FIELDS IN AUCKLAND
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 9. After a day’s delay caused by bad weather in the South Island, the English entertainer Gracie Fields returned to Auckland from Dunedin in a Royal New Zealand Air Force aircraft early this afternoon. Miss Fields is to leave tomorrow rnoming by a Tasman fly-ing-boat for Sydney. The proceeds from Miss Field’s visit are a record for any single artist in New Zealand’s concert history. At least £20,000, possibly more, will be available for the patriotic funds.
