TALKS AT OPTIMISTS’ CLUB
Five new members were initiated at a meeting of the Optimtists’ Club last evening. The president, Mr W. R. Bell, presided over a large attendance of members and visitors. Mr E. J. Thorp gave a talk on life in the shearing sheds of Australia. He said it was a hard and interesting life. A Co-operative Shearing Company had 900 teams throughout Australia. Mr H. Hubber spoke on cycle racing, and handed round parts of a racing machine and explained why a racing cycle went faster than an ordinary one.
