INVERCARGILL ORPHANS’ CLUB
An interesting and enjoyable programme was presented on Saturday night at the fortnightly meeting of the Invercargill Orphans’ Club. The attendance was good and there were many visitors present, The guest speaker, Inspectoi’ J. B. Young, of the Invercargill police force, gave an interesting talk on some of his experiences, which were greatly appreciated by those present. The chairman, Bro. A. Walmsley, thanked Inspector Young for his talk and said it was a pleasure to have him visit the club. A bar for 14 years’ service was presented to Bro. G. F. Griffiths. The chairman stated that next meeting night would be a special night when an excellent programme would be given. The programme was as follows: — Orchestra, a bracket of four numbers; songs, Bro. J. Galloway; duet, Bros. R. Hewton and G. McKinlay; pianoforte solos, Master G. Griffiths; violin solos, Bro. J. Harvey; humorous item, Bro. A. H. J. Wyatt; clarinet solos, Bro. C. Fleming; talk Inspector Young. The accompanists were Bros. J. H. Watson and F. Jones.
