SALE OF CALENDARS SUGGESTED
Raising Of Patriotic Funds A proposal that calendars should be sold in Southland for patriotic purposes this year was discussed at a meeting of the executive of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council yesterday. Mr D. W. Stalker, who had been investigating the matter, stated that the calendars could be obtained in bulk from an Auckland firm at a very reasonable price. They would be resold to any firms which wished to distribute them for 1946. The only drawback would be the fact that all the firms would be putting out the same calendar, said Mr Stalker. Unless they all agreed to this the scheme would not be a success.
It was decided to arrange a meeting with representatives of the business community. The matter will be brought up for further discussion at the next meetings of the Metropolitan patriotic Committee and the provincial council.
