Occasional Rain (Special) WELLINGTON, May 10. Following is the special forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office this evening for the period ending 5 p.m. tomorrow:— A complex trough of low pressure is moving south-eastward over the Dominion. Moderate northerlies, tending westerly. The weather dull, with occasional rain. Temperatures cool.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was overcast and cool, with a fresh easterly wind. The weather at 1 o’clock this morning was cold and overcast, with very little wind. The barometer reading was 29.63 inches (falling). THE TIDES—High water, Bluff, 1.27. a.m., 1.50 p.m.; Invercargill, 2.08 a.m., 2.31 p.m.; Riverton, 0.27 a.m., 0.50 p.m.; Oreti Beach, 0.36 a.m., 0.59 p.m. THE SUN.—Rises, 7.57 a.m., sets, 5.29 pm. RAINFALL (from our observer at the airport, by courtesy of the Public Works Department).— No rain was recorded during the 24 hours ended at 5 pan. yesterday.
