YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB
There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Wyndham Young Fanners’ Club. Mr I. McDonald presided. The annual report stated that the club once again had had a successful year. A credit of £l/8/- was shown in the balance-sheet. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:— President, Mr F. J. Dunbar; chairman, Mr T. M. Thwaites; vice-chairman, Mr R. C. Hunter; secretary, Mr T. P. Rabbidge; committee, Messrs J. Morton, E. Rabbidge, A. Morton, E. Bennett, K. Robertson, R. Humphries, J. McMillan, K. Townley, B. Baynes and A. Gregory; delegates to District Council, president, chairman and secretary; delegate to Wyndham A. and P. Society, Mr R. C. Hunter; delegate to Wyndham branch of the Farmers’ Union, Mr T. M. Thwaites.
Mr L. Mitchell sponsored the following remit to the Western District Council: “That a man held on appeal on the grounds of public interest should receive more consideration than he is at present getting from the Land Sales Committee.” PLUNKET SOCIETY.— The annual meeting of the Wyndham branch of the Plunket Society was presided over by Mrs D. McCaughan. The annual report stated that the committee had again carried on without making an annual canvass, and this had resulted in a very small credit balance. The attendance at the rooms had been very good and thanks were expressed to Nurse Gosden for her work. Elections resulted as follows:—President, Mrs James McDonald; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. McDonald and R. Wethey; secretary, Mrs P. Burns; committee, Mesdames W. Frame, J. Young, W. Milne, R. McLellan, E. Winter, J. Rabbidge, H. Heath, J. Burleigh, A. C. Steele, D. McCaughan, J. Rule and A. SOLDIERS’ FRIENDS.— The fourth annual meeting of the Edendale Soldiers’ Friends was presided over by Mrs Sandys Wunsch. It was stated that 207 parcels for. Edendale men h_d been packed, and contributions had also been made to the next of kin parcels for prisoners overseas. Among the parcels were 44, for which the money was provided by the children of the Edendale school. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs Sandys Wunsch; vice-president, Mrs McElhinney; secretary, Mrs J. Stirling; committee, Mesdames Baynes, Irvine, McCaw, Muir and Turner. ALMA LODGE.— There was a large and enthusiastic attendance at the monthly meeting of Alma Lodge, 1.0.0. F,. No. 34. The main business was the installation of Bro. H. W. McLellan as Noble Grand for the ensuing 12 months. Visitors were present from Hokonui,' Mataura and Marama Lodges. The installation was carried out by the District Deputy Grand Master, Bro. John Rabbidge, and his subordinate officers, as follows: —1.P.G., Bro. J. Dunstan; N. 8., Bro. H. W. McLellan; V.G., Bro. A. L. Milne; secretary, Bro. J. Harper; treasurer, Bro. R.
