France To Have Temporary Control (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, April 7. The British and American Governments agree that France should assume the temporary control and administration of the Saar coal mines, said Paris radio. France had pointed out to the Allies that she was fitted to control the mines because she had already once administered them, and had trained personnel for the job. The Allies had agreed, but stipulated that the French control should be >
purely temporary. This, however, would not in any way influence the decision, concerning the ultimate territorial political status of the Saar Basin. France was seriously short of coal, and whatever was produced would be used exclusively for the Allied war effort
