REVISION OF JURY LIST
Southland Supreme Court
District
On the first Friday in April each year the task of revising the jury list for the Southland Supreme Court district is carried out by a meeting of Justices of the Peace, who strike out the names of disqualified persons, insert names and correct errors. This annual job was completed yesterday by Messrs W. A. Ott, J. Pickard and F. E. R. Booth, when about 2000 names came up for consideration.
The list is prepared originally by Invercargill constables and the revised roll must be handed to the sheriff, who may amend it. Under the Juries Act every man between the age of 21 and 60 “of good fame and character” (not being a Maori) and any Maori whose capability is certified by regulation is eligible, but there are certain -exemptions.
