Next-of-kin Entertained At Fleck’s Hall the Women’s Divisision of the Farmers’ Union entertained next of kin of men serving overseas. Mrs C. Pankhurst, the president, welcomed the guests and Mrs J. W. Martin replied. Items were given by Mesdames E. T. Eade, C. Wilson, L. W. Bryant and S. H. Mitchell, Misses M. Robertson and D. Walker, Master R. Henderson and Miss Mary Martin. Mrs J. W. Martin played the piano. There was a large gathering for the recent sixth birthday of the Riverton Women’s Institute. Mrs S. Helm welcomed the guests from Nightcaps, Ohai and the Rocks. During the evening items were given by Mesdames Eade and Bryant and a sketch by Misses M. Price and A. B. Odell. Mr T. Craig presided at the annual meeting of the Riverton Swimming Club. It was decided to make the usual donation to the Regatta Club towards the swimming prizes. Mr D. E. Swinton was elected president, Mr A. N. Murray, secretary, and Messrs T. W. Craig, A. D. Mclvor and A. W. Castle the committee for the ensuing year.
