MEMBERSHIP NOW OVER 10,000
HOME SERVICEMEN’S ASSOCIATION The membership of the New Zealand Home Servicemen’s Association was 10,005 at November 30, an increase of 1175 for the month. A target of 15,000 members by March 31 next has been set.
The membership at November 30 was made up as follows:—Northern district, 3310; Central, 3401; Southern, 3294.
The membership figures for the six largest branches are:— Auckland . 1971 Wellington 1155 Christchurch 799 Dunedin 665 South Canterbury 535 Invercargill 511
No other branch has a membership of more than 500, next on the list being Manawatu with 312. Since the return was compiled the membership of the Invercargill branch has risen to about 530. DOMINION CONFERENCE A meeting of the Dominion council of the association is to be held at Wellington on February 18 and 19. In order to give district councillors an opportunity of meeting representatives of the various branches and of hearing their views and difficulties before the meeting of the Dominion council, a conference of representatives of all branches in the South Island is to be held at Timaru on January 20 and 21. Mr J. A. Doig has been appointed to represent the Invercargill branch at this conference.
