HOSPITAL PATIENTS
SLIGHT DECREASE LAST MONTH Patients remaining in the Southland Hospital at October 31 totalled 161, compared with 168 for 1943, stated the report of the medical superintendent, Dr Howard Hunter, submitted to a meeting of the Southland Hospital Board at Riverton yesterday. Other details of the patients in the hospital, with the figures for the same period in 1943 given in parentheses, are as follows: Patients admitted during November 269 (369); discharged during November, 289 (365); died during November, 11 (14); remaining at November 30, 130 (158); total patients treated during the month, 430 (537); collective days’ stay, 4623 (4846); individual days’ stay, 10.75 (9.024); average a day, 154.10 (161.53). In-patients X-rayed for the month totalled 237, compared with 258, and out-patients X-rayed for the month totalled 348, compared with 189.
