SIR WALTER STRINGER
Tributes Paid In Auckland (P.A.) AUCKLAND, December 13. Glowing tributes to the late Sir Walter Stringer were paid by speakers at a gathering of members of the Bench and Bar in the Supreme Court today. Mr Justice Fair emphasized the intellectual brilliancy and fearless endeavour which marked Sir Walter’s career. Linked with those characteristics had been rare charm and a natural modesty which won throughout the profession high regards and deep affection for the man. Mr A. A. Milliken, president of the Law Society, referred to Sir Walter’s achievements in the sports field, as well as his unfailing courtesy, sound judgment and human understanding. “Christchurch can rightly claim Sir Walter as one of its greatest sons,” he concluded.
