Mr F. D. Capitaneas, of the Dunedin Post Office staff, has been appointed a supervisor of the mail branch at Invercargill. He succeeds Mr L. J. W. Hitch, who was recently appointed senior supervisor of the postal branch in the Invercargill Post Office. Mr R. C. Walker, formerly manager of the Tuatapere dairy factory, has arrived from Palmerston North to take over the position of farm dairy instructor at Temuka with the Department of Agriculture. Reference to the death of a former teacher, Flight Sergeant W. A. D. Knight, who was killed recently over Germany, was made by the chairman, Mr S. Rice, at a meeting of the Southland Education Board yesterday. A motion of sympathy with the relations was carried. Guests at the Grand Hotel include Messrs R. Tuckett (Wellington), V. Moulton, R. E. Milnes, E. Milnes, H. Honore, S. Howarth, F. B. Clark, F. Marshall, K. J. Fulton, F. Ferrier (Christchurch), F. S. Avent, B. Smith, N. Smith, P. T. Robinson, G. Tovey (Dunedin), and J. MacKenzie (Walter Peak).
