1944-45 TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS

From 18th December to 6th January, inclusive, the 8.35 a.m. ChristchurchInvercargill, 6.15 a.m. InvercargillLyttelton Wharf, 8.33 a.m. DunedinInvercargill and 1.25 p.m. InvercargillDunedin Express trains will run daily (except Sunday). NOTE.—On Saturday, 23rd December the 8.33 a.m. Dunedin-Invercargill and the 1.25 p.m. Invercargill-Dunedin Express trains will run between Dunedin and Gore only. KINGSTON— GORE EXPRESS. LAKE WAKATIPU SERVICE. From Thursday, 21st December to Saturday, 6th January, inclusive, the usual 12.20 p.m. Gore-Lumsden and 12.20 p.m. Lumsden-Gore Mon., Wed., Frid. mixed trains will NOT run. During this period passenger trains will run daily (except Sunday) as follows:— Gore depart 12.15 p.m., Riversdale 1.0, Lumsden 1.58, Kingston arrive 3.55 p.m. Kingston depart 11.0 a.m., Lumsden 1.0 p.m., Riversdale 1.45, Gore arrive 2.23 p.m. _ Both trains connect with Queens-town-Kingston steamer, which will run daily (except Sundays) during the same period, leaving Queenstown at 8.20 a.m., returning leaving Kingston 4.0 p.m. , „ . From Friday, 22nd December to Friday, sth January, inclusive, the Queenstown-Head of Lake steamer will run each Mon., Wed. and Frid., leaving Queenstown at 8.30 a.m., returning leaving Glenorchy at 3.30 p.m. except will not run on Christmas Day. Road Motor Service: The Queens-town-Lumsden Road Motor Service will be suspended from 21st December to 6th January. After 6th January, a steamer will NOT run for passenger traffic and passenger trains will NOT run between Kingston and Lumsden. Passengers will require to travel by QueenstownLumsden Road Motor connecting at Lumsden with Gore-Lumsden passenger train on Mon., Wed. and Frid. NOTE: Rail or steamer tickets are not available by road motor.

EXCURSION FARES ON LAKE WAKATIPU.

Holiday Excursion tickets will be issuable between Kingston and Queenstown from 21st December, 1944 to 2nd January, 1945 available for return until 6th January, 1945 and between Head of Lake and Queenstown from 22nd December to Ist January, inclusive, available for return until sth January. Day Excursion tickets to Elfin Bay, Greenstone and Glenorchy will be issuable from Queenstown from Wednesday, 27th December until further notice. TUESDAY, 19th DECEMBER. The 12.20 p.m. Gore-Lumsden and the 12.20 p.m. Lumsden-Gore trains WILL run. FRIDAY. 22nd DECEMBER. Special Express train leaves Dunedin 5.43 p.m. arrives Invercargill 10.12 p.m. Special Express train leaves Invercargill 6.40 p.m. arrives Dunedin 11.9 p.m. (connects at Dunedin with 11.20 p.m. Express train for Christchurch). Bluff Line: Train leaves Invercargill for Bluff 10.5 p.m., arrives Bluff 11.2 p.m., returning leaving Bluff 11.10 p.m., arriving Invercargill 11.59 p.m. SATURDAY, 23rd DECEMBER. Special Express trains leave Dunedin 9.0 a.m. and 5.43 p.m. arriving Invercargill 1.38 p.m. and 10.12 p.m. respectively Special Express trains leave Invercargill 1.45 p.m. and 3.17 p.m. arriving Dunedin 6.23 p.m. and 8.12 p.m respectively The 8.0 a.m. Mataura-Gore train will NOT run. Train leaves Clinton for Dunedin at 6.30 a.m. and returns leaving Dunedin for Clinton 4.48 p.m., Balclutha 7.42, arrives Clinton 9.17 p.m. SUNDAY, 24th DECEMBER. Special Express train leaves Dunedin 5.20 p.m., arrives Invercargill 9.57 p.m. Special Express train leaves Invercargill 6.30 p.m., arrives Dunedin 10.57 p.m. MONDAY, 25th DECEMBER. CHRISTMAS DAY. Ordinary Timetable Suspended: The following trains and steamer WILL run: The 8.35 a.m. Christchurch-Invercar-gill, 6.15 a.m. Invercargill-Lyttelton Wharf, 8.33 a.m. Dunedin-Invercargill and 1.25 p.m. Invercargill-Dunedin Express trains. Special Passenger train leaves Invercargill 10.25 a.m. arrives Gore 11.55 а. (connects with Gore-Kingston train). Special Passenger train leaves Gore 2.55 p.m., arrives Invercargill 4.25 p.m. (connects with Kingston-Gore train). The 12.15 p.m. Gore-Kingston and 11.0 a.m. Kingston-Gore trains. Special Passenger trains leave Invercargill for Bluff at 7.50 a.m., and 4.30 p.m., returning from Bluff at 9.0 a.m. and 5.50 p.m. TUESDAY, 26th DECEMBER. Invercargill-Clinton-Balclutha-Dune-din: Train leaves Clinton for Dunedin б. a.m. and returns leaving Dunedin for Clinton 4.48 p.m., Balclutha 7.35, arrives Clinton 8.40 p.m. The usual trains leaving Balclutha at 10.45 a.m. for Clinton and Clinton for Balclutha at 1.6 p.m. will NOT run.

The usual 10.25 a.m. InvercargillDunedin train will leave Invercargill EARLIER at 9.45 a.m., Gore Racecourse 11.29, arrives Gore 11.35 a.m. thence ordinary timetable (Stops all stations). The usual 4.0 p.m. Invercargill-Clin-ton train leaves Invercargill 4.25 p.m., Gore 7.0, arrives Clinton 8.45 p.m. Stops Gore Racecourse to pick up Train leaves Gore for Gore Racecourse at 11.40 a.m. and Gore Racecourse for Gore at 6.0 p.m. The 8.33 a.m. Dunedin-Invercargill Express train will stop at Gore Racecourse to set down. The usual 3.5 p.m. train from Gore to Invercargill leaves Gore at 5.40 p.m., Gore Racecourse 6.0 p.m., arrives Invercargill 7.40 p.m. The train for Invercargill which usually leaves Balclutha at 12.37 p.m-, Clinton 2.35, and Gore 5.15 p.m. will leave Balclutha 1.15 p.m., Clinton 3.31, Gore 6.40, Gore Racecourse 7.1, arrives Invercargill 9.41 p.m. Waimea Plains Branch: The usual 715 a.m. Lumsden-Gore train leaves Lumsden 8.30 a.m., arrives Gore 10.30 3 The usual 4.0 p.m. Gore-Lumsden train leaves Gore 6.20 p.m., arrives Lumsden 8.20 p.m. Bluff Line: The usual 6.15 p.m. In- | vercargill-Bluff train leaves Invercar- I gill 6 48 p.m. arrives Bluff 7.50 p.m. Seaward Bush Branch: The usual 6.0 am. Invercargill-Dunedin-Christchurch:— Special Express train leaves Invercargill 6.30 p.m., Gore 7.45, Clinton 8.43, Dunedin arrive 10.57, depart 11.20 p.m., arrives Christchurch 7.18 a.m. (Bth). Special Express train leaves Dunedin 5.20 p.m., Clinton 7.54, Gore 8.50 p.m., arrives Invercargill 9.57 p.m.
