FUNCTIONS AT PUKERAU

REV. F. ROBERTSON HONOURED A large and representative gathering from all parts of the Pukerau parish met in the hall to bid farewell to the Rev. F. Robertson and Mrs Robertson and their family before they left for Bluff. The chairman was the Rev. W. Warin, interim moderator, and associated with him was the Rev. J. T. Gardiner, moderator of the Presbytery of Mataura. On behalf of the parishioners and the people of the district, Mr R. M. Pullar, session clerk, made a presentation to each member of the family. He expressed appreciation of Mr Robertson’s work during the seven and a-half years he had been at Pukerau, and spoke of the help in church work given by Mrs Robertson. Mrs G. Scott spoke on behalf of the Ladies’ Guild. She also mentioned the work Mrs Robertson had done for the Missionary Union and the Women’s Institute. Mr Gardiner thanked Mr Robertson for his work in the presbytery and the Rev. R. R. Seaton read a minute of appreciation passed at a meeting of the Presbytery. Other speakers were Mr T. Bagrie (Waipahi), Mr J. Wylie (Kaiwera), Mr N. France (Arthurton), Mr J. M. Cunningham (Pukerau), Mr G. Valentine (Gore) and Mr G. Styles (Pukerau). Miss Phyllis Evans made presentations to Mrs Robertson on behalf of the Pukerau Sunday School and to Mr Robertson on behalf of the Junior Choir. Mr Robertson replied. MRS ROBERTSON HONOURED At a recent meeting of the Pukerau Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild and Missionary Union the opportunity was taken to say farewell to Mrs Robertson, who has been president for some years. On behalf of the members Mrs G. Scott (vice-president) said that during the time Mrs Robertson had been president, the guild had shown remarkable progress, the present membership being a record. Other speakers were Mrs E. E. France, Mrs R. B. Lattimer and Mrs J. A. Edwards. A presentation on behalf of the members was made to Mrs Robertson. Mrs Robertson replied. The Pukerau Presbyterian Bible class and choir combined in a social evening in honour of Mr and Mrs Robertson and their two sons. Miss Betty Collett, on behalf of the members, made presentations to each of the guests. Others who spoke were Mr G. Styles and Mr N. France.

At a recent meeting of the Women’s Institute Mrs Robertson was made a presentation by Mrs G. Scott and also presented with a shoulder spray by Mrs Herron.
