MILITARY DEFAULTERS

Views Of Invercargill R.S.A. Opposition to the release of military defaulters was expressed by the Invercargill Returned Services Association in a telegram sent to Mr W. M. C. Denham, M.P., last week. The telegram stated that the association was definitely against the release of defaulters until all servicemen overseas had been rehabilitated. In his reply Mr Denham assured the association that he entirely agreed with its attitude. The Parliamentary- Committee had reported its findings on the prayer of petitioners to release military defaulters. It recommended that no action be taken. This had been endorsed by the House of Representatives. There was no intention of departing from this decision. The Otautau Sub-branch of the R.S.A., has advised the association that it is entirely in agreement with the resolution carried by headquarters concerning military defaulters.
