ARMED FORCES APPEALS

BOARD SITS AT GORE A sitting of the Southland Armed Forces Appeal Board was held at Gore yesterday. The board comprised Messrs E. H. Murney (chairman), D. H. Cockbum and D. W. Stalker. Mr A. J. Lumsden, ledger keeper (to January 31 to enable appellant to find replacement); W. C. Butler, sheepfarmer, Balfour, for E. N. Butler, who opposed the appeal (to February 2, 1945). Adjourned Sine Die.—Director of National Service for R. R. Crombie, farm hand, Gore-Waipounamu R.D.; C. G. Clearwater, farmer. Mataura, for I. S. Clearwater; Director of National Service for M. G. Laird, carpenter (leave recommended to June 30, 1945, on condition that the reservist remains on the construction and renovation of private dwellings); Director of National Service for C. H.
