The Hon. Mr Justice O’Regan, Judge of the Compensation Court, will leave by this afternoon’s plane for Dunedin.

Mr W. M. C. Denham, M.P., who spent the weekend in Invercargill, will leave on his return to Wellington by the express this morning. Sergeant E. J. McLauchlan, who returned to New Zealand with a furlough, draft in September, has arrived in Invercargill. He was accompanied by his wife and child. Sergeant McLauchlan, who was a member of the City Council when he joined the forces, was again elected to the council in May of this year Mr Henry Smith has been appointed to represent the Eastern Southland subexecutive of the Farmers’ Union on the Gore Rehabilitation Committee. Able Seaman W. T. Goodsir has returned to his ship for further duty after spending a few days’ leave with his parents at Racecourse Road. He has seen considerable service during the past three years, mainly in the Atlantic Ocean. During the past 10 months, however, he has been on service in the Indian Ocean. Formerly of H.M.N.Z.S. Achilles, but now a member of the ship’s company of H.M.N.Z.S Gambia, Able-seaman Goodsir joined the service in Christchurch, where he was employed. Archdeacon E. J. Rich, who has been vicar of St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, for 15 years and Archdeacon of Wairarapa for four years, has been appointed to St. Peter’s Church, Wellington, and Archdeacon of Wellington. He will take up his new duties after next Easter. He came to Masterton from Taihape. (P.A.) A motion of sympathy with the relations of Messrs Duncan McNeil, of Invercargill, and T. Borland, of Riverton, was carried at a meeting of the Southland Historical Committee. Mr McNeil and Mr Borland were both members of the committee.
