STORM TROOPER CHIEF ARRESTED

Hitler Assassination Plot Recalled

(Rec. 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 6. The Chief of the Gestapo, Herr Heinrich Himmler, has arrested the Chief of Staff of the Storm Troopers, Herr Wilhelm Schepmann, to whom Herr Hitler entrusted the training of the Volksturm, according to a German underground report quoted by the Stockholm correspondent of The Daily Telegraph. Schepmann is now in the hands of the Gestapo for complicity in the attempt to assassinate Hitler on June 1. The German radio on October 26 announced that Schepmann was suffering from a nervous breakdown, adding “he needs a change of air.” At that very time Schepmann was almost dying under torture to which Himmler’s agents were subjecting him.
