Several hundred police were called out to quell a riot, in a Johannesburg suburb when 2000 natives began stoning all traffic when a tram knocked down a native, says the Johannesburg correspondent of Reuter’s. The police were compelled to fire on the natives, 11 of whom were injured. Europeans stoned the offices of the native newspaper, “Bantu World,” which was later destroyed by fire.
