MR CURTIN ORDERED COMPLETE REST

Suffering From Over-work

(Special Correspondent, N.Z.P.A.) SYDNEY, November 6. The Prime Minister, Mr Curtin, has been ordered some weeks’ complete rest from all official duties. His medical advisers have warned him that he is suffering from over-work and that refusal to relax might have serious consequences. Because of Mr Curtin’s illness and the'absence in New Zealand of Mr F. M. Forde and Dr H. V. Evatt, meetings of the Wai Cabinet, the full Cabinet, and the War Council scheduled for this week have been postponed. Mr Curtin is expected to miss the reassembly of Parliament next Wednesday week as well as the two-day sitting of the Labour caucus which will precede it. One of the chief subjects for caucus discussion is reported to be the Government policy in the post-war reconstruction period. Linked with this will be the method of financing that policy. Some political observers fear that in Mr Curtin’s absence, Labour leftists may press for the inflationary extension of bank credits.
