Mr James Fletcher, Commissioner of Works, who has been visiting Invercargill, returned north yesterday.
Flying Officer J., J. McMath, of Southland, was a member of a Royal New Zealand Air Force draft which recently returned to the Dominion from India and Australia. (P.A.). Flight Sergeant Leo Lyons, of Lindisfarne street, Invercargill, who has completed two operation tours with a fighter squadron in the Pacific, has been promoted to the rank of pilot officer.
Guests at the Grand Hotel include Messrs T. L. Macdonald, M.P. (Gore) and R. M. Algie, M.P. (Auckland), J. Williams (Auckland), Mr and Mrs F. E. Mitchell (Wellington) and Mr H. A. Glasson (Dunedin).
