Commercial CUSTOMS RETURNS FOR QUARTER
Decrease In Beer Duty The amount of Customs and other revenue collected by the Customs Department in Invercargill for the quarter ended September 30 showed an increase in all items, with the exception of beer, over the corresponding period of last year. The beer decrease was £541. For September the revenue from beer showed a decrease of £346, all the other items showing increases. The figures are as follows:—

Ltd. report as follows for the week ended Saturday:— Pigs.—Small weaners, £1 to £l/5/-; wellgrown, £l/8/- to £2/3/-; empty sow, £1 19/-; stores. £2 to £2/2/-; porker, £3. Miscellaneous.—Pumice boilers, £lO/15/-; pumice tashtubs, £3/5/-; sashes, 19/6; wheelbarrows, £2/15/-; cement, 7/10; timber, £1 5/6 to £l/10/-; stakes, £3/15/-; droppers, £l/10/-; horse covers, £3; cow covers, 15/-. Vegetables.—Cabbage, 5/- to 5/6; cauliflowers, 4/6 a dozen; carrots, parsnips and beetroot, Id to l‘/ad per lb; leeks, 4d a bundle; rhubarb, 6d per lb. Grass Seeds.—White clover, 1/6 to 2/6; Montgomery, 2/9; dogstail, 1/3; timothy, 1/6; cocksfoot, 3/-; lotus major, 2/6; ryegrass, 7/6 a bushel; mixture of ryegrass, clover and cocksfoot, 3lid per lb.
