(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 30. .An appeal by the German Food Minister, Backe, for an intensification of the efforts of German farmers has been broadcast by the German radio.

Backe said. “There is no doubt that German peasantry in the coming months will find it harder than ever to fulfil the tasks imposed upon them. Germany now has once again to rely exclusively on her own resources and further enormous exertions will be expected.”
