DEATH OF CENTENARIAN
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 1. The death has occurred of Mrs Isabella Bain Munro, aged 102, who lived until recently in Tauranga, but entered an Onehunga convalescent home last Sunday. Mrs Munro was born at Lossiemouth, Scotland, on February 19, 1842. It was the birthplace also of the late' Mr Ramsay MacDonald, who was a boyhood playmate of the Munro children. In 1893 Mrs Munro and her husband, a ship’s officer, came to New Zealand where the latter established a shipwright’s business in Auckland. On Mr Munro’s retirement from business the family lived at Lake Rotoiti. Mr Munro died in 1916. Mrs Munro is survived by a son, a daughter, five grandchildren and nine great-grand-children.
