Mrs M. Austin, Riverton, was welcomed at a meeting of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council yesterday as the representative of the Southern Federation of the New Zealand Women s Institute.

One padded patchwork quilt has been forwarded to Montecillo Home, Dunedin, on behalf of the Otara SubCentre, also one case of refugee clothing has gone forward to headquarters. During the week the following have sent in knitted goods: Tokanui Sub-Centre, Gorge Road Sub-Centre, Otahuti Sub-Centre, North Invercargill Committee, and Gorge Road SubCentre.

Biscuits for soldiers in hospital were received from the Winton Sub-Centre.

Georgetown Committee. —There will be a meeting of members of this branch on Wednesday, October 4, in the Presbyterian S.S. Hall, Centre street. The committee thanks all who helped in the effort on street day. Central Committee.—The guild will meet in the Red Cross Rooms next Wednesday, October 4 at 2 p.m. North Invercargill.—Members are asked to meet on Tuesday, October 3, at 2.30 p.m. in the Anglican Church 'Hall.
