NO ALLIED REVERSES IN LAST TWO YEARS
MR CHURCHILL’S REVIEW OF WAR
(United Press Association—Telegraph Copyright) LONDON, September 28.
A statement that the affairs of the United Nations had proceeded without a single reverse of any kind in the last two years, excepting only the loss of Leros and Cos Islands in the Aegean Sea, was made by Mr Churchill when he reviewed the war situation in the House of Commons. Mr Churchill added that even the islands of Leros and Cos might turn out to be a loss to Hitler rather than to ourselves.
Such a long, mounting tide of victory was unexampled in history. The Governments of the Allies had every right to claim the confidence of the United Nations in the new effort that would be required from all, in the future designs, conceived and shaped, which had still to be unfolded in action.
