PERSONAL
Captain G. R. Milward, of the Corps of New Zealand Engineers, and formerly engineer to the Southland County Council, has been promoted to the rank of Major. Mr and Mrs F. Hinton, Kelvin street, have received advice that their son, Signaller J. N. Hinton, has arrived at his overseas destination.
Guests at the Grand Hotel include Messrs W. J. Barker (Wellington), H. Chisholm, F. W. Dixon, J. Erwin and I. C. Randle and Mrs B. Gilchrist and Miss W. Homan (Dunedin).
