SECOND DAY AT RIVERTON

FAIR TRIAL SHOULD WIN AGAIN Fair Trial has been risen 101 b for his win in the Riverton Cup and he will carry 8.2 in the Easter Handicap at Riverton today. That handicap should not prevent him from winning again. He was not distressed by his win in the Riverton Cup, and with the likelihood of the track b&ing no worse than it was on Saturday his prospects, cannot be discounted. He will again be ridden by W. F. Ellis. A newcomer in the field is Platform, who forwent his Riverton Cup engagement to race in the Pourakino Handicap (one mile) which he won well. Platform was handicapped at 8.2 in the cup and he will be asked to carry 8.10 in the Easter Handicap today. He is a good weight carrier and he revels in the heavy going; moreover, he has shown that he is back tb his best form.

Sing Sing and Sister Sal are two who may make it difficult for Fair Trial to have matters all his own way. Sing Sing ran two good races on Saturday. It is not expected, however, that the extra weight, given to Fair Trial will bring these horses together. Sister Sal is ' engaged in two races, but if she is started in the Easter and can reproduce her Winton or Gore form she would provide opposition. The following horses may be expected to race well or show improvement on recent form:— NOVICE HANDICAP.—Dearo, Carpos, Immediate. OTAITAI STEEPLES.— Minton, Gold Robe, Timber Topper.
