Commercial OTAGO MARKETS

THRESHING DELAYED (P.A.) DUNEDIN, April 8. Offerings of wheat from growers have been coming to hand, but the recent break in the weather will delay threshing in some districts. Wheat is still -in stook and it will be difficult to save this grain in good condition. Unfortunately most of the crops in the Otago district are not up to standard, the broken weather having caused deterioration in the quality of a number of deliveries. Millers are anxious to buy good quality wheat, but poor quality lines have to be sold for poultry purposes at round about 5/3 to 5/9 a bushel, sacks extra, delivered in Dunedin. Offerings of oats from the country continue to be on the light side. There is still a demand for Duns and Algerians and for these higher prices are ruling than are fixed for white oats. Supplies of these two varieties are also short. It is difficult to secure sufficient supplies of chaff to meet the demand. Main crops of potatoes are' now being dug, but deliveries have so far been on the light side. The present wet weather will interfere with the digging operations for the time being. Consequent on small offerings from the country there has not been a great deal of activity in the seed markets. It is now apparent that there is a definite crop shortage in ryegrass and cocksfoot. Stocks of white clover are fairly plentiful, but it is anticipated that with this variety also the yield will not be up to that of last season. The demand for white clover, Chewings fescue and brown top continues. LAMB AND WETHER SCHEDULE Increase From Today (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 9. The South Island lamb and wether schedule will be increased by one-eighth of a penny a pound from the same date,
