FAILURE OF LAVAL
Admission To Frenchmen (Rec. 7.15 p.m.) LONDON, July 12. Pierre Laval, Vichy’s Puppet Prime Minister, broadcasting to former war prisoners, admitted the failure of his policy of collaboration with Hitler. “I felt that France was saved at Montoire when I signed the agreement with Hitler, but subsequently practically every thing has been lost,” he said. “I had a feeling during my interview with Hitler that I had achieved an immense success for France, but on the evil day I again came up against Britain. I have been described as fanatically opposed to Britain. lam a Frenchman and love only my country.”
