THEFT OF WATCH AND CLOTHING

AUCKLAND, June 28. “This man was arrested by an American patrol wearing the uniform ot a United States Marine,” said Senior Detective Walsh when Ronald Fridolfe Mack, factory hand and aircraftman, aged 20, admitted charges of stealing a watch valued at £5 and the theft of a quantity of clothing and equipment valued at £3O, the property of the United States Government before Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M. Senior Detective Walsh said the accused had been in the R.N.Z.A.F. The clothing and watch had been stolen from a hotel room. Accused had been handed over to the Air Force authorities, but escaped. He was arrested in Wellington and sentenced on another charge. The accused was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention on the first charge and was convicted and discharged on the second.
