17-Mile Race On Saturday A 17-mile race was held by the Invercargill Cycling Club on Saturday and ten riders competed. Heavy rain fell during the afternoon and as a result the roads were heavy. The middle markers, Murdoch and Harris, rode well to over-take the limit men and defeat them in the final sprint. M. Beer, the scratch rider, defeated C. Campbell in a fast finish and gained fastest time for the race. The placings were as follows: J. Murdoch (3y 2 min) 1, R. Harris (S’/amin) 2, R. Tiley (smin) 3. Time, 44min 9 3-ssec.
