Mrs T. Wray Wilson, Avenal Flats, is visiting Dunedin. Mrs W. J. A. McGregor, Grey street, is visiting Dunedin. Mrs C. J. Martin has returned to Dunedin after being the guest of Mrs P. B. Witt, Duke street.

Miss J. Johnston, who has been the guest of Mrs H. S. Baker, Tay street, has returned to Dunedin.

Mrs H. R. Gibson, who has been spending some time in Dunedin and Christchurch, is visiting her home in Don street. Mr and Mrs E. C. Mackenzie, Ramrig street, have left for Dunedin en route to Christchurch, where they will take up residence.

Three American girls who arrived in New Zealand a few days ago from the United States are now at the Masterton Red Cross Club, where they are co-operating with the volunteers in the canteen and recreation programme. They are Ruth Nesbit, from Newton, Massachusetts, who worked in an actuary’s office in New York, Marcella Kelly, a school teacher and architect’s assistant, from Manchester, Connecticut, and Alta Powell, a “newshound” on The Hartford Courant, Connecticut. From Northland to the Bluff, members of the Women’s Herd Testers’ Reserve are now in Wellington attending a three-day reunion and refresher course. The girls are enthusiastic about their work and love the outdoor life. They pay a tribute to the hard-worked farmers’ wives, who nevertheless are ready with a warm welcome for them and show them much-appreciated kindness. The herd testers usually arrive at a farm in time for the afternoon milking and leave the following morning after the early morning milking. Sometimes they have to be up at 1 a.m. for special testings. However, they look on the bright side of things and point out that they have the best part of the day to themselves and can therefore enjoy the sunshine. Southland herd-testers attending the refresher course are Misses O. Sanderson and D. Browning.

The Open Night of the Southland Women's Club Music Circle will be held on Wednesday, June 30, at 7.45 p.m. Advt.
