For the first two days of the present week £2OO has been subscribed in Invercargill for national war savings, leaving £1843 still to be found if the quota of £2043 is to be reached. The following eight centres reached the quota last week:—lnvercargill, Bluff, Lumsden, Mataura, Riverton, Tuatapere, Thornbury, and Waikaka. A total of £3093 was invested, the district quota being £3893. On January 31 there were 322,922 national war savings accounts in the Dominion, including 7746 national savings groups with group accounts totalling 127,038. Up to December 31, 30,170 5/- national war savings group coupons had been sold to the value of £10,042/10/-. To the same date 380,207 6d national war savings stamps to the value of £9505/3/6 had been sold. During the period October 10, 1940, to January 15, 1943, the total amount received in national war savings was £10,061,864.
