MISSING ARMY TRANSPORT PLANE

(Rec. 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 22. The War Department announcement in connection with the finding of the body of Major Arthur Mills on a raft states that one American officer is known to be dead and 25 British and American airmen are missing from an Army transport plane which was last reported over the South Atlantic on January 18.

A recent message stated that a small rubber life-raft, bearing the body of Major Mills, Army Air Corps Ferry Command, drifted on to a beach near .Natal (Brazil) after a voyage probably exceeding 1000 miles across the south Atlantic. With the body were identification tags, indicating that six others had died and had been buried from the raft after a plane travelling from Africa had been forced down into the sea. r-

HUGE MUNITIONS DUMP.—A large munition dump, where everything from small arms ammunition to the biggest bombs are stored, has been visited by the Duke of Gloucester. The dump is located in a fonner mine. All rail junctions in the mine are named after underground stations in London, and the first halt was at Clapham Common. (London.) CHINESE MILITARY MISSION.— Three members of the Chinese military mission of six, which spent a year in America, have arrived in England jon their return journey to Chungking.
