U-BOAT DESTROYED

Success Of Two Aircraft (8.0.W.) RUGBY, September 30. One of the most spectacular U-boat kills of the war was made in the Bay of Biscay recently by the combined efforts of two aircraft, one belonging to the Coastal Command and the other to the Bomber Command. The U-boat was crippled by the first aircraft. Later, wallowing helplessly, it was dispatched by the other. As it went down the air inside its hull erupted from the conning-tower, blowing out some of the crew into a pool of oil in which others, who had jumped overboard, were already swimming.
