COAL OUTPUT.— The Minister of Fuel and Power, Major Gwilym Lloyd George, answering questions in the House of Commons, said the number of wage-earners in the collieries on January 3 was 708,006 and on September 3 it was 711,498. The average weekly output for each coal face worker in 1939 was 14.73 tons and for each employee 6.08 tons. The figures for 1942 to September 12 were 14.48 tons and 5.71 tons respectively. (Rugby.)
