OBITUARY

MR C. F. ROBERTSON The death has occurred at Auckland of Mr C. F. Robertson, a well-known railwayman in Southland over 40 years ago. He was also a prominent bowler. Mr Robertson was educated at the Invercargill South School. He joined the New Zealand Railways about 50 years ago and after serving his cadetship at Invercargill, Lumsden and Otautau he was transferred to Gore, where he was chief clerk for several years. Later he was appointed first stationmaster at Wingatui, a post he held for several years before going into the office of the general manager of railways at Wellington. Before retiring at Auckland about' 15 years ago he was stationmaster at Paeroa. Mr Robertson achieved considerable .distinction as a bowler and in 1939 he was lead in the Balmoral (Auckland) rink skipped by W. Franks which won the New Zealand championship at Auckland. The following year the same rink won the Auckland Epster fours. He was a brother of the late Mr James Robertson, formerly of the Southland Bowling Club, and of Mr Thomas H. Robertson, a member of the Invercargill Bowling Club.
