AIR FORCE BAND.— A resident of. Otautau has written to the Mayor, (Mr A. Wachner) suggesting that during toe forthcoming visit of toe Royal New Zealand Air Force Band to the city, an attemoon concert should be arranged for toe benefit of r-nuntrv ueople. The writer of toe letter potote out that, with «*e,P e troJ restrictions it is practically impossible for country people to attend evening entertainments in toe city. The suggestion will be placed before the advance agent of the band. NATIONAL SAVINGS.—Last week the following towns in Southland reached their National Savings quota:—lnvercargill. Bluff, Edendale, Lumsden. Mataura, Riverton. Thornbury, Tuatapere. Waikaka and Wyndham. The amount received was £3349 against toe district quota of £3893. On Monday a sum of £139 was received toward! Invercargill’s weekly quota of £2043. CLOSE OF OYSTER SEASON.—Today la officially toe last day of toe oyster season.
