CONVALESCENCE OF SOLDIERS

HOME NEEDED IN SOUTHLAND The need for a convalescent home in Southland for soldiers was mentioned by the Mayor (Mr A. Wachner at the annual meeting and social of the Southland Anglers’ Club op, Saturday night. “We are short of a convalescent home in Southland for soldiers,” declared the Mayor when referring to the kindness of the anglers in Southland in entertaining returned men last fishing season. “And I think fishing men will support me. We do need such a home in Invercargill, or any other suitable place, and I hope to see one established. I intend to give such a project all the support I can.” The Mayor added that too much could not be done for the returned soldiers and he expressed the hope that the anglers would again this season take them for a day’s outing. _ A great opportunity to help was offering these days and he was sure fishing men would not lag b&hind in their responsibilities. The suggestion of a convalescent home was well received.
