PETROL STOLEN FROM DEPOT

BOWSER LOCK CUT BY THIEVES Cutting through the strong steel lock of a bowser, thieves stole .about 60 gallons of petrol from the depot of a carrying company in Invercargill during the week-end. The loss was discovered yesterday morning by an employee of the company. Entry to the store, a large building with subsidiary store-rooms, presumably was made by the back door. Other doors in the building were broken open, but as far as could be ascertained yesterday no other goods had been stolen. Large quantities of sugar and tea and supplies of motor tyres were stored in the building. The thieves found a set of bolt cutters belonging to the company and apparently used them to cut through the lock of the bowser. The bolt cutter could not be found yesterday and it was presumed that it also was stolen. It is not known if the thieves were disturbed in their activities, but the lights in the building were burning when the theft was discovered.
