SOLDIERS WELCOMED AT BLUFF

There was a record attendance at the Town Hall on Thursday night when an official welcome home was given to soldiers returned from this war. Those present were Gunner R. Wixon, M.M., and Messrs H. Halbert and W. P. Waitirl. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. G. Niven, lan Roderique and W. A. Johnstone. In welcoming the men, the Mayor, Mr N. W- McGorlick, spoke of the pride Bluff felt in them and said how pleased the citizens were that they had returned safely, after doing their duty to their country. A presentation was made to each man. Gunner Wixon replied on behalf of his comrades. The Mayor also took the opportunity of presenting Sergeant-Pilot Neville Callan with a parcel of knitted comforts from the Patriotic Committee and wishing him godspeed. The members of the Merchant Navy present were also extended the good wishes of the people of Bluff.

Dancing and euchre followed. Prize winners in the euchre tournament were: Women, Mrs L. Gilson 1, Mrs T. Stirland 2; men, J. D. Gilson 1, F. Butler 2.
